CLIMB Youth Leaders Making Waves
The CLIMB Wave grew another “wave ring” as a stellar group of CLIMB Youth Leaders ended the 2023-24 program year with outstanding capstone presentations. 15 students attended at least five weekly sessions and 9 students attended 10 or more. Kudos to Brandon Gorton and Peyton Anderson from Reagan High School in Milwaukee, NaKoryia Jones from Riverwood High School in Atlanta, and Sodik Gbadamassi from Memorial High School in Madison; all of whom attended at least 18 of the 23 Youth Leader Sessions! These students collected the lion’s share of the $1000 that was awarded as performance incentives and scholarships through the program.
The CLIMB Youth Leaders were exposed to a wide range of educational topics throughout the year, including economics, socially responsible investing, preparing for college, internships, civil society and lots more. All students managed a simulated stock portfolio on the CLIMB SME platform. Six youth honed their presentation skills by preparing and presenting a capstone topic.
The good news is that these students will remain connected to CLIMB as they move on from high school to college because they are eligible to join the Visionary Young Professionals (VYP) which is the collegiate division of the CLIMB Youth Leaders Program. VYP members receive special training to become peer educators, serve as CLIMB Ambassadors, and some may be hired by CLIMB as paid interns. Hearty congratulations to all of our class of 2024 CLIMB Youth Leaders!
